Toastmasters are known for their communication skills, but in recent years, Toastmasters has taken on a more significant role in teaching leadership skills as well. The Trio pictured on this page has taken advantage of their leadership skills training and are serving as elected officers of District 37.
Being involved in leadership can take you beyond the horizons of your local Toastmasters club. There are 44 Area Governors who work with 4-6 clubs in their area. There are 10 Division governors who work with the Areas and clubs in their geographic Divisions throughout the state of North Carolina. The Area Governors, Division Governors and the Trio make up the District Officers. They represent the best and most experienced of our membership from the mountains on one end of our state to the ocean on the other.
Advancement towards your Distinguished Toastmaster Award (DTM) will require that you spend one year in service to the District, usually as an Area Governor or Division Governor.
